Enon
Plantation offers the highest caliber whitetail deer hunting.
In 1991 the plantation began intensive deer management of its
12,000 continuous acres in an effort to provide an exceptional
site for bow hunting. We feed free choice protein pellets from
early February through the end of August. Hardwood drains
create natural funnels as well as provide for a natural food
source.
In addition, fall plantings are made to enhance
the trophy program for whitetails. Since the deployment of
our deer management plan the size of deer taken, number of large
bucks harvested and number seen has increased each
season.
Every effort is made to ensure a perpetually flourishing habitat for our deer
herd. With over 130 food plots strategically located throughout the land,
it's easy to see why the deer population thrives in this extraordinary habitat.
All stands have a pull-up rope, and safety belt are attached for your
convenience. Stands are marked with bright-eyes and orange
flagging tape to help locate them on dark mornings. Your guides will share
any needed information on the stands for location purposes. Our guides
know the land and the deer. They care about our hunters and work hard to
make sure each guest has an opportunity to harvest that long awaited buck!
Last year's shot opportunity on bucks six points or better reflects that 73 %
of our guests had a shot opportunity. Of this 73%:
34% had a successful harvest
21% passed for bigger trophy
13% missed a buck
5% wounded a buck
We take a maximum of 9 guests per hunt. Each hunt is divided into
groups of 3 and paired with a knowledgeable guide. Your guide will choose
stand locations based on wind direction and the most recent scouting
information.
Your morning hunt begins before daylight and pick-up is 10:00 am.
After brunch and some rest, you'll depart for your afternoon hunt at
1:00 pm and stay until dark. Some guests prefer to stay in their
stand all day.
Hunters who choose the all day hunt are prepared sack lunches the
night before. Your guide will check on you at 10:00 am and again
at 1:00 pm in case you've harvested a deer and need to be relocated.
